In my case I actually applied more filters, some of which I may back
off. No missed spam, one or two false alarms (depending on how I view
one message about which I am ambivalent.) The amount of spam per day
dropped here about to between 2/3 and 3/4 of its peak a couple weeks
ago. This is concurrent with the news that one of the prolific spammers
out there is spending some time behind bars. I suspect the drop was
chiefly in spam he generated.

(I used to see upwards of 200 spams a day to my account. It dropped
to 100 one day and between 130 and 150 the other days last week. That
MIGHT be related to long weekend phenomenon. But in the past long
weekends have often seemed to include a surge in spam rather than a
drop. I note that today the "conservation of spam" principle has been
discovered. Spam is on the track to being closer to 175 today than
the expected 133 to 150. Individual spammers are like the heads of a
mythological hydra monster. Cut off one head and two grow back to
replace it.)
