Well, in all honesty he has a point. The commercial packagers wrap
everything up in one box with a nice ribbon around it, and for the extra fee
you don't have to figure out how to do it yourself. After all, that is why
most people hire plumbers rather than fixing the toilet themselves.
The do-it-yourselfer mentality is sadly lacking in a large part of the
corporate US.
