I agree, paper spam is a real environmental problem.

I spent quite a while getting myself off mailing lists and now I'm down to
about 10 pieces a week. In San Francisco recycling it is easy. I suggest
that you pursue both getting yourself off lists and in getting a recycling
system set up where you live. 

But e-mail spam is a bit different in that it has a malware payload about
30% of the time so the less knowledgeable among us get burned and become
zombies to spit out millions of additional spam/malware e-mail.

>From this point of view it is my opinion that we'd all be better off if
the mail did not get delivered in the first place. This is why I suggest
that adding an additional layer of robustness might prove useful.
