Thank you for your response. I don't believe this is the case. My mail
"profile" (for lack of a better term to use) has not changed - I am
receiving the same type of spam as always and incoming mail is usually
textual business mail, rarely with attachments. I am also not noticing
increased mail traffic.

Is it possible that SpamBayes is munching on an especially large email
or a
lot of emails which arrived in a burst?  I don't know how Outlook doles
out
time to SpamBayes, but it's possible that if it's handed off control it
won't get it back until SpamBayes is finished munching.
