I've been away from these groups for a while and I came back just to see
what people (especially Julian or the deputies) were saying about this
particular issue.
Since PSInet is a known entity, I went out on a limb and sent the spam
reports directly. I received tracking numbers immediately and followup
messages soon after. This led me to send them a message asking them to
state whether they do or do not accept reports filed via SpamCop... and I
received a reply indicating that the behavior that I reported was in
violation of the AUP and the offending party would be terminated! Now THAT
really inspired me to write Julian and tell him that he should resume
sending reports to psi.com!
I hope we're all aware that PSInet's vendors are, out of professional
courtesy, promising to wait a couple of weeks before breaking into their
offices and reposessing equipment that PSInet has been unable to make
payments on and they're cutting staff like a chainsaw through warm butter.
Realistically, therefore, we should not be surprised if the abuse desk
becomes severely backlogged (causing messages to bounce) or if they stop
acting on complaints altogether until the more pressing issue of who's going
to lend them the money to make good on next month's paycheques is solved.
On the other hand, at the current NASDAQ share price of $US 0.19, I estimate
that one could buy controlling interest in an international communications
company and a piece of internet history (arguably the first commercial ISP)
for a mere $US 20M and then you could run it any way you liked.
Or maybe we'll wait another couple of weeks and it'll be free to a good
home. <grin>
