Which version of Thunderbird?

I've found Thunderbird 3 to be a bit of a nightmare, insisting on using
encryption/ssl/tls/whatever and other strange things when it does its
auto-detect when you set up an account, but which subsequently don't
actually work.

So I would take a look at the "use secure authentication" tick box, and the
connection security setting, as well as the port it is set to. i.e. untick
the use secure authentication box, and set the connection security to none.
Does it then work?

If so, I'm thinking that possibly Spamdyke's tls (is it tls?) stuff isn't
set up correctly in your config or something, so Thunderbird gets its
knickers in a twist.

All this is just a guess - but worth a try maybe?

And while I'm here, may I wish everybody a Merry non-denominational Over
Eating Day and a Happy Gregorian Calendar New Year.

Faris.
