Hi Robert, Yes, you should switch to Gmail compatibility:
* Open the Spanning Sync pref pane and go to Contacts * Turn contact syncing off and on * Select Gmail compatibility * Make a trivial change to one of your contacts (such as adding a note) * Sync That will remove the formatting characters from Google. The effects on your Mac Address Book will be that contacts with unusual names may lose their name formatting. You can prevent this from happening before doing the first sync by: * Merge any duplicate contacts into one. * Make sure each contact has a first name and a last name OR has a company name and is set to display as a company. In other words, single name contacts will work better as companies. * First names with two words might need to be shortened to one word or hyphenated, otherwise the second word could become the middle name.
