If the only option was to sync all Google contact groups with all Address book groups, that would still be better than what exists today.
What would be better, however, is the ability to sync only certain groups on one with only certain groups on the other - similar to how the calendar syncs. I presently sync about 6 calendars across 5 macs. Not every mac needs every calendar. For contacts, it's the same story. Not every mac needs every contact group. For example, I need to share my work contacts with my fellow employees, but not my wife. And I need to share my personal contacts with my wife, but don't want to share them with my fellow employees. I realize that may not be feasible, but it's the ideal solution. Short of that, All groups to All groups is better than no group sync at all - in my opinion.
