Spanning Sync is awesome. But there is one thing which irritates me
quite a bit. That is the notifications it leaves on my screen telling
me the server is not available or down for maintenance or whatever. I
don't have a problem with the server being down as such - so long as
my stuff gets synced reasonably promptly, I'm not too bothered.

But the boxes themselves are a pain. You have to dismiss each one.

On the Mac, there is already a great third-party tool for doing
notifications. Growl <http://growl.info/> would be perfect for
displaying this kind of transient status information in an unintrusive
manner.

Please consider it. It'd make this Spanning Sync user an even happier
user. Otherwise, it's a great product. It struck me the other day how
important good sync is when I entered a calendar entry on my iPod
touch, got home, plugged my iPod into my Mac, then the next day, when
I was out and about, I got an SMS alert from Google Calendar notifying
me of the event.

Yours,
