Hi Brian,

In 3.0 there is a lightweight long-running app called Spanning Sync
Notifier that schedules the sync and displays UI. Currently, it
doesn't hold your name/password since there is no need, but
conceivably it could, and provide those credentials to the sync app
when it launches. I'll look at making this change in the 3.0.1 udpate.
