I am new to Spanning Sync, but have been working for the last few days with 6000+ contacts. I have had the same issue, but have traced it (at least in part) back to my use of Plaxo.
Finally, I shut down automatic syncing with Plaxo, then used Contact Cleanser (part of Spanning Tools) to clean up my Address Book. Then I went through several iterations of manual syncing with Plaxo followed by scrubbing the results with Contact Cleanser. Finally, I have exported my Address Book to 3 vCard files (due to size) and imported them to Google Apps. Am now synchronizing (using Spanning Sync) between Google Apps and Address Book. My challenge now is that I am over 50 and it looks like I may die before this sync completes. Spanning Sync says it has 'Added Contact: Jane Smith' (or whomever) for the first 29 contacts and eventually times out with the following message: Oct 13 19:13:58 -- Sending data to Google... Oct 13 19:23:00 -- *** Server returned fatal error: Sync operation failed due to timeout. Oct 13 19:23:00 -- ...done Oct 13 19:23:00 -- *** The operation failed for an unknown reason. Oct 13 19:23:00 -- *** Sync failed for reason: The operation failed for an unknown reason. Oct 13 19:23:00 -- Sync complete Any idea what I am doing wrong?
