Well, according to Apple's FAQ (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4037) the
upgrade to the new calendar system is opt-in, at least for now.  This means
that as long as you don't specifically upgrade you should be able to keep
using the old system.

It's unclear whether Apple will eventually force everyone onto the new
system, but for now it's simply a "recommended" upgrade.
