I am experiencing the same error. I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 and tried doing the spanning sync update. I kept receiving "Preferences Error: Could not load Spanning Sync preference pane." I have uninstalled and tried reinstalling spanning sync several times but keep receiving the same error. Please help!
