Greetings,

As I had to 'exchange' my SUN workstation for another one, I thought it
was the good moment to try out ultralinux on sun.

I have just installed ultralinux (redhat 6.2) on my (new) SUN Ultra 5,
and here are some remarks:

- The floppies don't work. If you 'rawrite' or 'dd' floppy-images on a
floppy and do a 'boot floppy' on the sun, the SUN refuses to boot.
(something about bad magic-number).

I thought 'rawrite' did a raw copy to a floppy, so why isn't the magic
number copied to?

- Next, I booted the SUN via RARP and tftp, and started installing the
redhat system.
Problem: a NFS-install made the kernel crash (some error about 'exec' if
I remember correctly). A 'FTP' install did not produce that error
though. (Some error in the NFS-code of the kernel).

- For the rest, everything went very smooth, just as smooth you can
expect on a intel-box.

Two questions, still thou:
- Is there USB-support in ultralinnux. (I would like to connect a
webcam, and these parallel-port cams become more-and-more difficult to
find).

- In solaris, -using the audiocontrol-tool- one can select speaker,
mic, and line-out individually to be working or not.
How do I do this under ulinux? (e.g. kmix or aumix do not let you
'disable' the speakers, and -for some reason- my collegues next-to-me
do not like my choice of music ;-) )

Cheerio! Kr. Bonne.
