Hi Simon,
Since xinteract can also run the <result>2XML converters (besides the
prophets, etc), the -D option is required if you are trying to analyze a
Mascot .dat file in this manner.

When otherwise specified, the RefreshParser step of xinteract uses the
database given by the -D option, which adds its own <analysis> tag.  This
does not replace the <search_database> tag within pepXML, but rather adds
its own <database_refresh_timestamp> tag wherein this new value is stored,
and used by downstream tools.
