No need for special introductions, Sebastian; this list is the perfect venue
for discussing any GSoC issues.

Josh, as it is written on the wiki page, two possible mentors for the
"Conformance Checker" are Dick and Kate (who are obviously also on this list).
Their technical experience is more oriented towards Python, that's why we put
it down as the preferred technology for this project. If a candidate prefers
another implementation language, we can see whether we can find mentors to
accommodate them.
This project is about a brand-new piece of software, so there is nothing to
point to (yet) nor can we present an existing list of small issues for you to
work on. The idea is to use the already existing libraries for reading and
processing SPDX Documents (that exist for different programming languages) and
perform analysis of Documents related to NTIA's minimum elements guidance. For
example, are all mandatory fields present?

Hope this helps,

Dear Josh,

Great to hear that you are interested in contributing to SPDX! We always
appreciate help, and your portfolio looks especially impressive :)

Alexios Zavras has been leading the GSOC process for SPDX, so I can get you in
touch with him if you have any specific questions - he'll be able to answer
them much better than I can!

The SBOM Conformance Checker is a great project to take on. I see you have
experience in Java - would you like to develop this in the SPDX Java libraries?
Gary O'Neall currently maintains these and I'm sure he'd be able to help if you
get stuck and maybe even be your mentor for GSOC.

In any case, please feel free to send us a draft of your proposal whenever you
like! Let us know if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Sebastian
