Hmm? Can't say I have ever seen a timeout with a normal config. It could
be a server problem. I see you are running *all* apps on the same server.?!
this is not a good idea. Generally it is better to have a seperate server
for SQL 7. What version is it? Standard? Enterprise? SBS? or Desktop?
remember that apart from Enterprise which has no limitations (other than it
requires Enterprise NT 4!) the others have certain limitations regarding
the no of user connections etc...... desktop has a limit of only 5!
I would not think that an re-install of the OS was required. Did you start
and stop the services to see which was the offending one?
What causes an overhead IMHO (and correct me if I am wrong!) is that even
though the current application is set via the Webtop the actual Webtop
itself is held still held in the standard vanilla db that comes with
Spectra. I can see no evidence of the Webtops objects anywhere else even
when you migrate or install a new one into a another DB.
In my days of NT debugging - it is hard to say what is causing a CPU loader
without actually being there.
Hope this helps.
