You are right that it doesn't use the validations which you've built in
this version of Spectra/ I'm not sure if this was a simple oversight on
Allaires part, or a feature left in for future expansion.
We at gtriad have developed a custom tag to force a handler to use any
server side validation rules. contact me off list if you are interested in it.
