Toby,
with a quick review of the underlying code, I didn't see an obvious way to
explicitly pass a message into a custom notification -- hopefully if I missed
something someone will correct me. In fact any message would need to be passed
to cfa_workflowexecute which in turn invokes the workflowinstrefresh method of
the workflow instance which in turn invokes the taskinstnotify of the individual
task. That handler in turn cfincludes the specific notification method template.
So it appears that any message would need to be passed down that line.
Nonetheless, it makes sense as something you ought to be able to do -- perhaps a
feature request?
Of course, a hack would be to stick your message into the request scope before
calling cfa_workflowexecute and then access the request scope from within the
custom notification handler. It is ugly and non-standard (in that APIs should be
clearly visible), but may be a workaround until an explicit means to pass a
message is available.

template? IE if I had editor's comments, coudl I send them to the =
notification template to be mailed to the recipient?
