Developers:
I'm starting to get frustrated with Allaire Spectra 1.5 to the point I'm about to give
up. I like the concept and I'm an avid Cold Fusion user but if I can't get it to work
right, I'll have a difficult time selling it to the CTO.
What I'm running it on:
Dell Poweredge dual 700Mhz with 500Mb of ram (our development server).
Connecting to a SQL2000 Quad Xeon server.
What I've done:
Migrated all databases to SQL
Migrated Siteminder to SQL
Installed latest patches.
Updated Siteminder.
Upsized my cache in the cf administrator.
Performance tuned the machine according to Allaire KB articles.
Removed restorenet and Ibuild.
Things I've noticed so far (which is enough to stop now):
1)Mainly Spectra is slow compared to normal web pages. When I'm in the webtop, I wait
alot for pages to load. I'm not maxing the processors and there seems to be plenty of
ram. It just takes allot of time to do things.
2)Spectra tends to lock up and freeze the Cold Fusion Application Server randomly. I
then have to stop and start services. This just can't happen in production.
3) I've gotten several (too many) "unable to acquire lock for single threaded
sessions." errors at random times.
Most of this has happened in the webtop. I haven't fully developed a site with it yet.
Has anyone else noticed these types of problems? Is it worth continuing and fighting
through the various problems mentioned and those to come? Looking for a little
enlightenment and hope before I drop Spectra.
Cheers!
Dave
