I know about that one. I think it has something to do with the licensing
(per server, per seat)
I have had this error occur and could not figure out what triggered it and
the MS help....wasn't. Every time I've had to completely uninstall SQL
server (I was using 7 but I think it's the same issue) and reinstall.
Make sure you delete the service from the registry when uninstalling.

Yes.. Was hoping to do that. The problem now seems to be (just another
thing!) that SQL 2000 doesn't want to run it's DTS Wizard. Each time I
run it (and we're now on the 4th completely clean install of SQL as the
LAST thing in the chain) it pops up with an error: "Error in the dll."
Of course, it doesn't specify WHAT dll. And when looking at the
redist.txt file on the CD, it says to register a bunch of DLL's.. But
that doesn't seem to help.
ARGH!
(Sorry.. I know this isn't a SQL list. Just HAD to vent it.)
