I think that you ask some interesting questions here- the most pertinent being about the future of ColdFusion. ColdFusion is the first product Allaire made- it is the tool that took so many people out there and turned them into web developers (and makes them immensely productive). I believe that the future for this product is bright- its an important and already incredibly successful product. Looking at CF5 (it has some really cool features as well as some performance enhancements) and looking to the future, I am really excited to be a part of the company that makes this killer product. . . Now that I think about it, the future is so bright, CF has to wear shades. -c -----Original Message----- From: Neil Clark [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, April 24, 2001 8:10 AM To: Spectra-Talk Subject: Spectra RIP? WHY?! Charles, we have to ask you why this has happened? You stake a lot of credit and knowledge into a product such as Spectra and when the MM merger occurs it is ear-marked for destruction / intergration - take your pick on that one. This was Jeremy's vision was it not? the man in the know!? I am v.conscious of the fact that alot of clients and coders have invested a lot of money into Spectra to now be kicked in the teeth. I understand the future that MM are taking with the web (I personally wish it was without Flash, well until it becomes better at what it is supposed to do) and I am very excited with it.... but what about CF? will it still be the cutting edge middleware tool that it is, or will it be swallowed up into MM as "just another feature?" once again, devils advocate :-) Neil <!----------------------------- Neil Clark Senior Web Applications Engineer Spectra / CF / XML MCB Digital Premier Allaire [Macromedia] Partner Tel: 020 8941 3232 Fax: 020 8941 4333 e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----------------------------> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox.
