Thanks to all who have replied, pretty much confirmed what I suspected.

One further question, primarily aimed at Robin - Caching is something I have
started to implement, albeit rather niaively, but  I plain don't understand
the allusion to Mary Horvarth's caching KB? It sounds like something I
should examine further
