I've read this thread and I have to say i think this is the craziest thing
I've ever heard.
>From the thread:
"1) delete from cfadmin
2) re-create using the k2 tools (using the same name)
3) add it to the k2 ini file
4) and bounce the k2 server."
The K2 engine is for searching only. Using the "k2 tools" is just a way of
creating an "external" collection using the verity utilities. What about
maintenance of the collection??? Verity utilities again??? Dump all the
Spectra/CF schedules/code for managing the collection??? Crazy talk.
Perhaps if they actually read how K2 works...
a. look for collection name in registry
b. if the name is there use VDK (basic search mode)
c. if not, look at k2 engine ini file if its there run search
All you need is an entry in the k2server.ini file that points to AN ALIAS of
the base collection created by spectra. Then you need to modify the Spectra
search tags to look at the alias when searching. It's a simple mod to the
Spectra source code to add an attribute or something -> k2collection="blah"
Macromedia should have added a registry value for k2 searchable or perhaps
gone to k2 first before the registry for looking up collections. Either way
the thread smokes crack - don't delete and recreate your collections in a
hurry.
I've written a simple script that migrates collections in the registry to
the k2server.ini all i need to do is rewrite the spectra tags and add a k2
attribute... this is something anyone on this list could do I'm sure.
