Hey, that is good news. It is nice to see Macromedia staying committed to all of us.

Just to make things official, here is da word - so to speak... In May 2001, Macromedia announced that there would be no new feature-additive releases of Macromedia Spectra. At that time, Macromedia committed to outlining a clear migration strategy for Spectra customers. We are pleased to announce Spectra 1.5.2, a new version of that will come out after the release of Neo and allow Spectra customers to run their existing applications, without change, on the Neo platform. This migration strategy provides Spectra customers with an easy upgrade path and allows them to take advantage of new features in Neo, such as UNICODE compliance and performance enhancements. In addition to releasing a new version of Spectra, Macromedia has committed to extending support for the product until the end of 2003. In the May announcement, Macromedia also discussed plans to engineer a version of the Spectra content object API (COAPI) into the Neo version of the application server. This engineering effort resulted in a technology called ColdFusion Components (CFCs). ColdFusion components allow you to write encapsulated, reusable code on which you can perform activities (invoke methods). This is similar to the way you work with content objects in Spectra. ColdFusion components do not, however, include a database layer that automatically persists data associated with your object, as the Spectra COAPI did. Components do allow you to create a custom persistence mechanism to access components as virtual instances. This functionality will be documented in future Neo betas. ======================================================================= Raymond Camden, Principal Spectra Compliance Engineer for Macromedia Email : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo IM : morpheus "My ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is." - Yoda > -----Original Message----- > From: Neil Clark [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 4:25 PM > To: Spectra-Talk > Subject: RE: Spectra 1.5.2 - 2? > ______________________________________________________________________ This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
