hmm.more ShiteMinder problemos... ;-)

Can you connect to the policy database?  Also, have you changed any security
settings on the machine?  i.e. have you changed your login details etc..

Also, why dont you just set the service to restart after a crash or
unresponsive time automatically - its not a total solution but for now..

I no longer have ShiteMinder as we are on MX 1.5.2 ...
