Absolutely.  FarCry has a categorisation service that allows you to
build a category tree based on database record matches not Verity
keywording -- an architectural error in Spectra.  Categorisation can
be applied to any content object in the system and can be utilised in
any number of ways including within publishing rules.

The category tree itself is managed using the inbuilt nested tree
model (based on the Joe Celko model), so very large lexicons of
metadata are certainly possible.
