Hello list, It has been some time since I was administering Spectrum every day. I am involved in one project where we would like to use Spectrum in order to get MAC addresses of end devices connected to Cisco switch ports. Required information is located in dot1dTpFdbTable in MIB, but content of the table has to be queried by SNMP community string indexed with VLAN the relevant port belongs to. i.e. pub...@120
Is there any way to tell Spectrum to use such SNMP string to poll the switch and get that values from particular VLAN, while polling the device for fault management with standard SNMP string? I remember a statement from development regarding similar topic asked few years ago - Spectrum is NOT designed and ready to poll a single device with multiple SNMP strings (except the attribute that stores the RW SNMP string for special write actions) Is this still a true? Has anything changed yet? Thanks a lot for any comments. SPT queries vtpVlanTable to determine the VLAN list. For each VLAN, SPT searches the CAM table for the MAC address. Since CAM tables are stored per VLAN, community string indexing is used to query the switch CAM table. SPT queries dot1dTpFdbTable to get the CAM table entries. In addition to the switch CAM table, SPT also queries the following MIB tables (see Figure 10-20 <http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/6.0/configuration/guide/6_ 0ctrlcfg.html> ). <<Picture (Device Independent Bitmap)>> Note <<Picture (Device Independent Bitmap)>> The switch CAM table must be accessible using community string indexing (such as pub...@1). --- To unsubscribe from spectrum, send email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe spectrum [email protected]
