Hi everyone,

my customer has Spectrum 9.1 installed on Windows servers. They would like
to monitor nonIP devices which don't have neither IP address nor SNMP
connectivity. I'll try to explain…

I have a nonIP device. I create a model (for example Fanout) in Spectrum
which represents that nonIP device. I enter Fanout/device name.
I have a monitoring application which collects device data (for example
temperature). Application is installed on a PC and PC is modeled in
Spectrum. Application transforms the device data to SNMP protocol. If
temperature threshold is exceeded, SNMP trap is sent to Spectrum. OID
structure in trap is well organized and Spectrum can read the data from
the trap (current temperature, threshold, device name). SNMP trap
generates event in Spectrum and event generates an alarm. Also when the
temperature returns under the threshold, SNMP trap is sent to Spectrum and
the alarm is cleared. At the moment all these events and alarms are
displayed under PC that application resides on.

I'd like to have all my nonIP devices modeled in Spectrum as Fanouts or
some other model, it doesn't matter which.

My question is this… When SNMP trap (temp exceeded) is received by
Spectrum, and event is generated, can this event be somehow attached to
the model of my nonIP device? So when I click on Events of my nonIP
device, that event is shown. Event generates alarm and my nonIP device
changes colour and under Alarms I can see its alarms. By this I hope I
could monitor my nonIP devices.

I hope I've been clear... ;)

Srdačan pozdrav / Kind regards,
