Thank you very much! That got me in the right direction and I have working service alarms now going out as email alerts. I have filtered the SANM policy to only email SM_Service type alerts. But what I notice is that I get an email saying that service is down, but no detail as to what sub item of that service is alerting and why.
Now I can expand my filter in the SANM policy, but then I get two emails for the same alert. One saying the service is down, and another for the monitored component. This seems like unnecessary clutter when one email should be sufficient if it could provide more in-depth detail. Can you or is there anyone who has had experience with this scenario provide some insight? -----Original Message----- From: Cristi Mitrana [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 12:55 PM To: spectrum Subject: Re: [spectrum] Generating email alerts from a Service defined in Service Manager [Christopher Duryea -- Thu 04 Feb 2010 08:24:21 PM EET] > I'm in the process of setting up Alarm Notifier and SANM and I have been able > to generate emails based on alarms that appear in the landscape for > individual devices. > [...] I remember that in Service Editor you have a dropdown for the Service to generate alarms called "Generate Service Alarms", you'll have to enable that and fiddle in SANM with policies to route the notifications.
