For list: Information about

Notification Threads

The number of Notification Threads that get used by the system at any one time,
is proportional to the number of attribute or watch changes occurring on the
network. Once a network is up and has achieved stability, the number of
Notification Threads required to monitor the system should remain steady and
small.

When the number of notification log threads needed exceeds the number of
notification threads available, then pending notification thread requests are
queued until a notification thread becomes available. If the number of
notification threads available has been exceeded, then the number of
notification threads may be insufficient for the current state of the network.

You are right, my notification thread is maxed out which is 100. Do you know by
chance what "Notification Thread" means and what causes spectrum to increase
this number?

The first place I would check is to make sure your notification threads aren't
being maxed out. You can see this under the Information tab for the
SpectroSERVER model in OneClick. I have my available notification threads set
to 600; I believe the default setting is somewhere around 100. You may have to
increase your total pool of available threads, and be sure to keep a careful
watch on your CPUs after adding available threads, to ensure you don't overtax
the CPU.

Also, check to make sure that there isn't an old process still running that
shouldn't be. Are you running Windows or Unix/Linux?

Hi List,

We are using spectrum 8.1 (SP2) in our environment. Last week, spectrum was
crashed and then we restarted spectrum server. Since then, spectrum working
fine but having lot of delays in discovery any device, putting device in
maintenance or getting device unreachable alarm.

I have checked SS Performance table which shows Notification Latency around 800
sec.

Does any one faces this problem? Any idea, how could I possibly check why
spectrum having so much delays?

Thanks
Lalit
