I'm getting this in the event log of a model whose IP address is
a.b.c.d:

"Unable to uniquely identify the device at IP address a.b.c.d
because model type HPNS_SW and model type ESS2000 have the same
disposable precedence value."

These two model types are unused. Under Spectrum 8.1, is it
possible to destroy an unused model type without bringing down the
Server to use the MTE?

Not that I know of, but isn't the precedence an attribute on the model itself ? Why would you need to modify it on the model type ? Furthermore, I don't think it's a wise idea to delete 'unused' model types, especially the ones in the base catalog that are distributed with SpectroServer - they'll get re-created on the next upgrade I think.
