For our servers ( 2 x MLS in hot standby with 1 LS per customer) we install OneClick on every Spectroserver. The ones on the customer servers point to their local landscape, whilst our service desk teams and engineers go to the main OneClicks that point to the MLS. All user admin is done from the MLS level and for customers we create a separate user group and only allow it visibility to their particular SpectroSERVER. That way we get centralized alarms with the customers having access to only their devices if needs be.
What I suggest you do is run Spectrum in DSS (Distributed SpectroSERVER) and model that remote site's devices on their own SpectroSERVER with OneClick running alongside it, then integrate it back to your MLS as we have done. That way the remote site can only see their devices. Alternatively if there aren't that many devices you could use Security Strings, set up a user group and users for the remote site on your MLS/OneClick and only allow them to see devices with their string on them. I have received a request from our team which goes to game events for local monitoring of their devices. Currently we monitor the devices which goes to events through our central servers. I was thinking of using remote operations server, which can be sent with their kits and we can discover and monitor the devices when they come online. However they want a local OneClick server. Has anyone installed OneClick on remote operations server. If yes, does OneClick point back to the MLS or can it just point to the local server and can the network manager in the remote site log on to the local OneClick and see the what's happening in their network. Below is the business requirement I have received: Do we have a small footprint of OneClick that folks can use when on site at an event? The remote support folks would like something local to the site to monitor the infrastructure and some systems. Can we set them up locally without having to rely on polling and OneClick access from here? Saurabh Bohra Sr. Network Mgmt Systems Analyst ESPN Inc.
