Unfortunately this doesn't work here.

We name our devices by sysName and name lookups won't work for us. The cisco
routers always respond with their FQDN. The only time the FQDN is removed with
the feature you mention is when you name device by ip lookup.

Michael,

There's a setting on the SpectroServer to do just that:

Turn off Use Fully Qualified Host Name, then Reevaluate All Model Names

We have a need to remove the FQDN from our model names.

I was thinking about just writing a script to do this but was wondering if
somebody has already done this.

I simply need to remove everything except the first field in the FQDN.

Ex. ROUTER1.acme.com >> becomes >> ROUTER1

Before I begin my script, does anybody have any suggestions? Or scripts
they've already written?
