Hi all,

I just got back from the Hungarian Nationals which you may or may not
have seen media about.

It was a fantastically well organised event, and the aim of the
competition was to bring the cube back into peoples minds in Hungary,
and also to try and break the old Hungarian Record. The event
accomplished both goals, with several records broken and a best time
of 18.21 (I think thats right).

We then took part in the "Kocka Show" afterwards and showed off lots
of different skills, Stefan and I did team-blindfold solving, and also
blindfolded - where Stefan successfully solved followed by tumultuous
applause; and Jasmine, Stefan and I took part in lots of races of all
sorts with the Hungarians. I also beat Stefan by less than 0.5 seconds
on the 4x4x4, bad luck mate! My proudest moment was setting the
fastest time of the day on stage, 15.87.

I also set an 11.24 seconds solve while being solved by a TV news
crew, so I am looking forward to seeing the video of that. It was
scrambled by Stefan and timed on his stopwatch, so I guess the time
maybe inaccurate, but we will be able to tell from the video :)

The city was also beautiful (Budapest), and the Hungarians were very
friendly and welcoming to all.

If the European Championship of 2006 will be held in Budapest, then I
think it would be a superb event. Because the cube a national
treasure, there is SO SO much more interest within the Hungarian
public, the crowds that turned up were even bigger than at the World
Champs! And the media guys did a great job of publicising the event,
and making sure it ran smoothly.

I will definitely be voting for EC2006 in Hungary.

I've almost sorted my webhosting out now, so when it's back up I will
add pics from DCD2005, WC2005, and Hungarian Nationals as well as
reports for all, updated FMC and lots more stuff I promise!

Dan :)
