Hey everyone, Not to keep bringing this up, but I really am incredibly excited about what Opposite color solving has been doing for my times. It took a while for Richard Patterson to convince me to try it, but now I don't think I'll ever go back to solving just one color.
My old average average used to be about 17.5-17.6 seconds. My best 100 cube average with one color solving was 17.55. Well I just did a 100 cube average now that I am fairly comfortable with inspecting both colors in 15 seconds, and my new 100 cube average is 16.83 seconds! I dropped about 0.7 second from my average, and I haven't changed any new algs, nor have I been using any ZB tricks in my Fridrich solving other than the occasional ZBF2L with all flipped edges (maybe 1/50 solves). The only major change is opposite color solving. I know that for years the view has been that solving the same color always provides enough color recognition to make your times superfast. Well I think that is too restrictive. By solving opposite color you always solve the same F2L edges, that is only restriction. I mean think about it, does changing the the first layer sticker color on the corner really change that much when looking for an F2L c/e pair? Well I say no! So anyway, I've gotten the feeling that some people are trying this, let me know what you think! I've also gotten the feeling that people think this is a weird thing to do since it is different from the accepted belief that solving the same color is best. Well I'm trying to break that belief! Try opposite color solving! It is so amazing, that I will never switch back from it! Don't be afraid of it being different, it is so amazingly worth it! Just my views and opinions of course, but I sincerely hope everyone gives it a try for a short time to at least see what you think. Chris ------------------------ Yahoo!
