Hi :-)

I agree with Peter here. Not allowing ANY pop at all will make me
cube slower/safer on the larger cubes. My DIY 3x3x3 i will never
have to worry about popping. Allowing ONE pop for many solves is a
good intermediate solution to the popping. Of course one could still
abuse the one-pop rule in rounds where single best time will count.
But even if this "cheat" is possible it's still fair. Everyone can
abuse the rule in the same way. And those who occasionally pop
unintentionally will feel more relaxed. Also, id like to add the the
phenomenon of popping cubes is for the most part due to a bad/faulty
cube of which the cuber has little control. If a cube (say a 5x5x5
occasionally pops must the cuber now purchase many cubes in order
find a more stable cube? That's pretty expensive. As i said allowing
ONE pop is a good way to deal with it. Has the one-pop rule caused
any problems in any competition? Is that why it's now gonna be
removed?

And Stefan, i'm not quite sure which rule was applied when Masayuki
Akimoto had a twisted center count as a DNF. Anyway, im against it.
Likewise, ONE broken center on 4x4x4 or 5x5x5 should be ok cause
there is no ambiguity whether the puzzle is solved and there is no
way to benefit from it. My easy philosophy is to have fair and nice
rules without the burden of overly strict rules :-)

And about stickers, i did ask Ron before the competition if they
were allowed and he said no. So even if they are explicitly
forbidden, which i think they are with the "no aid" paragraph i
think we should either explicitly allow them or forbid them. Of
course there are tricks to "mark" the cube without extra stickers.
Like folding corners, removing/tearing stickers or whatever. Also
for this reason i think using extra stickers ahould be explicitly
allowed :-)

Cheers!
