Hi!

I've recently just got my speedtouch modem working under linux (although
it still doesn't work under Windoze :-! and have managed to get connected ok,
using the  SpeedTouch-HOWTO-en.html page.

Now I'm wondering, if I want to stay logged on to my computer but switch
the ADSL connection off for some reason (e.g. I want to switch ISPs to
use fetchmail from elsewhere), is this possible?

I tried "poff -a" which seems to kill the connection, but then I can't get
any sort of dialin or ADSL connection subsequently without rebooting.

I tried also "umount /proc/bus/usb" but this doesnt work as it says the
device is busy.
Is there an easy way to effectively do the opposite of the start-up
script:

#!/bin/sh
# Check if all modules are loaded
modprobe ppp_generic
modprobe ppp_synctty
modprobe n_hdlc
# Then, check that usbdevfs is mounted :
modprobe usbcore
mount none /proc/bus/usb -t usbdevfs
modprobe usb-uhci
# Load the firmware
modem_run -m -f /usr/local/progs/mgmt.o
pppd call adsl

thanks alot.
