I've had similar problems. Using the alcaudsl.sys microcode supplied with
the windows driver resolved the problem.

Hmm strange. I've used the Windows one a bit, the Linux one a lot, and
they seem to be performing in the same manner. Perhaps download speeds
were 5% more consistent on Linux actually, but that might have to do
with the OS itself.
Does your syslog give the correct speed when synchronising to the ADSL
line?
