Hi all.

hopefully someone on this list can help me....apologies if this has been
covered before, the list archive doesn't seem to contain this specific thing
though. :(

I've just done a fresh install of Mandrake 9.0, having bought a new
SpeedTouch 330 USB/ADSL modem, and downloaded the
speedtouch-1.2-beta1 drivers from Sourceforge. Using the windows-supplied
alcaudsl.sys microcode I seem to have managed to get modem_run to load ok
and pppd also seems to load, only I don't get any IP bound to the interface
(doesn't appear in ifconfig).
I have tried the patch that Tim Woodall posted on this list a while back, it
didn't seem to make any difference (and I'm not sure if I needed it with the
latest tarball?)

a tail of the syslog shows the following lines:

Feb 14 18:36:35 localhost modem_run[2391]: modem_run version 1.2-beta1

I feel I am getting close, but perhaps I've made an obvious mistake? Any
pointers would be appreciated. Clearly I'm no Linux expert :(

thanks in advance
Martin
