There is no "uhci" in 2.5 - if you force loaded the uhci from 2.4 I'm not
surprised it crashed your machine!

The size of the files under /proc/bus/usb changed between 2.4 and 2.5.
modem_run checked the size to be sure it was looking at the right files.
I put in a fix for this some moons ago, but after version 1.0 I guess.

Strange that this changes between 1.0 and later versions...

2.5 is experimental and often won't work properly (it's fun to try out though).
Wait for 2.6 before making a permanent move.
