I am currently suffering from a serious routing problem with my pppd/pppoa3
setup on my Red Hat 8 box. I have absolutely no issues when activating the
PPP link; pppd works correctly and the interface and routing are set up properly,
to all appearances.
However, I cannot ping beyond the other end of the PPP link. I can ping the
other end by IP, but I can ping no other IP or no other hostname. The
connection works under Windows, so I know that the problem must lie with
my routing. I have a netfilter firewall installed, but even with it completely
removed, I still canot ping or do anything beyond the other end of the PPP link.

I am using kernel 2.4.18-26.8.0, speedtouch_19_11_2002_CVS, the Windows Alcatel
firmware and ppp 2.4.0. My modem is a common SpeedTouch 330. AFAIK the USB chipset
is the one found on the VT82C586 South Bridge (the system is cutrrently down and
I will not be able to start it for a little while.) If more info is needed, I
can provide it.
