I have followed the guidance given at:
http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/
for configuring my modem - a silver speedtouch 330 USB.

The process all seems to work swimmingly, except that the lights do not
blink when I use modem_run and when I type pppd call speedtch I simply
get "resource temporarily unavailable".

Having tried many and varied suggestions to overcome this from assorted
websites I seem to be getting nowhere.

The system log contained the following from typing modem_run...

modem_run[6526]: modem_run version 1.3.1 started by root uid 0

...(another 8 tries of the same)...

modem_run[6526]: Retrying to upload microcode (#9)

…(at this point I typed pppd call speedtch)…

pppd[6633]: Exit.

I was logged in at the time as root - a measure of desperation!

Any help would be so much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Rosalind
