Hi.

I'm a regular LFS user (hello other LFS fellows I saw re ading
this list ;-), I've had no problems installing Speedtouch driver under my
present system. Problem with LFS is upgrading. So I decided to continue
to play with my LFS box, but start looking for a more easy to upgrade
system. On the advices of some collegues, I tried Debian Sarge.

This is for the little story.

Now I encounter problems under Debian : I installed the Speedtouch packet
(version 1.3.1, on the DVD), got the firmware files AND the mgmt.o file
(curious, I seem not to need the first ones on my LFS box ?), installed
everything in /usr/local/lib/speedtouch as described in the README.

Now When I plug in my modem, this is what happens :

/var/log/messages

Oct 24 15:35:37 localhost kernel: usb 2-2: USB disconnect, address 3
Oct 24 15:35:49 localhost kernel: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device

I tried different solutions. I saw a few messages about this in my
Speedtouch list archives, some about udev (I've got 0.56 installed), but
can't figure out what's going (or NOT going) on. I'm sure I made a silly
mistake, but the files seem to be exactly as they are on my LFS box...
I'm puzzled :-(

Please help ! I'll be glad to provide you with ANY other information
(except password, of course ;-) you will need to help you help me :-)

\bye
