no i didnt restart pppd by hand ... i use to do that whe i got timeout

Since i don't know if it's correct and the devices file looks as it hase 
0 bytes .. i send you zipped all the folders in there

I also think that the problem can be dued to the noise on the telephone 
line, today it's up n down again, but it's more stable as i've said before.

Maybe it's necessary to relase a patch or something that can "tweak" the 
sensitivity of the modem... the up n down thing happens to me also in 
windos with the latest drivers , it' works perfectly with the 1.3.3 
drivers from the old CD.
