well, there is a secret CVS repository. It's not supposed to be a secret,
but unfortunately the web-page which helps you get to it has been dead for
several months now. I've put a copy at

The in-kernel firmware uploader went into the kernel a couple of versions
ago. As for pppd, I agree that there seems to be no good source of info.

And there is more to come! Namely, support for isochronous transfer,
plus (hopefully) some performance improvements (right now it's not
possible to get more than 4 megabaud out of it).
