Dear Andrew, You are bang on target!! I have been actually using pppoe while my ISP just confirmed the following, am cutting and pasting the text:
"For your reference the Manual Broadband settings for the UK are (these should only be needed if you are installing a Broadband modem or Router that isnt the Speedtouch 330) - VPI = 0 VCI = 38 ADSL Modulation Auto, then try G.DMT, then try ANSI T1.413 Encapsulation Mode PPP over ATM (PPPoA - RFC2364) VC-MUX Service name Home 500 Authentication CHAP MTU = 1430" Earlier, I was following the pppoe, now I have edited /etc/ld.so.conf, removed the line, /usr/local/lib and ran /sbin/ldconfig. Also, I had loaded the br2684 module. How should I unload it now and execute unload script? Although, I have changed the script of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0 for pppoa. So, I guess br2684 is the only hurdle now. Please advice. You didn't mention you were using PPPoE. Do you need to use PPPoE? Recheck all the steps. Did you install linux-atm? Did you add /usr/local/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf? Did you (as root) run ldconfig? Did you create the /etc/rc.modules script to modprobe br2684? Did you make the script executable?
