Hi, my modem has always worked fine with any OS, and so it does now. I decided to try out the udev firmware loading but... no effect. Here's some output:

Jan 6 04:06:30 localhost kernel: [4294691.736000] usbcore: registered new driver speedtch Jan 6 04:06:30 localhost kernel: [4294691.838000] speedtch 1-3:1.0: found stage 1 firmware speedtch-1.bin Jan 6 04:06:30 localhost kernel: [4294691.984000] speedtch 1-3:1.0: found stage 2 firmware speedtch-2.bin but no lights blink and i just have to rmmod speetch and get back to the old way :) I'm using the latest kernel (2.6.15) and latest udev therefore I think that it has fully replaced hotplug.
