kernel ppp support does not matter.

Excuse me if I don't understand all commercial wording but to my knowledge a
RFC1483/2684 connection is routed OR bridged.
br2684 is only the tool to use for a bridge and not a routed connection : it
start with 'br'
To use a routed connection, you need to use atmarp/atmarp and recompile your
kernel with corresponding kernel settings (this is for 2.4)
CONFIG_ATM=m
CONFIG_ATM_CLIP=m
CONFIG_ATM_CLIP_NO_ICMP=y

I know a patched br2684 have existed wich support routed IP too with a
modified code and a supplementary parameter, but I am unsure this still work
with 2.6 kernel.
