If the lights on the modem are not on it suggests that the kernel hasn't loaded the module for your USB controller. Could you please post the output from the following commands? /sbin/lspci | grep USB lsmod Of course, that won't be easy because you'll have to save it to a file and then put it on a floppy disk or something and email it from windows. If you run them like this it will dump the output to dump.txt in your home folder /sbin/lspci | grep USB > dump.txt lsmod >> dump.txt I'll have a go at the SuSE page over the weekend.
